About this work:
For many years I had a studio/gallery in Carmel-by-the-Sea.
Often I would paint seascapes at Big Sur,
paint the flowers of Carmel as I visited many magnificient gardens.
At least once a week I met with artist friends at
Clint Eastwood's Mission Ranch for dinner.
We enjoyed visiting while listening to piano
that was sometimes played by Mr. Eastwood.
Often early mornings would find me at the ranch painting the farmhouse,
the two big eucalyptus trees flanking the driveway or
the sheep lazing in the meadow.
"Peaceful Moment" was painted at Mission Ranch.
I loved the sunlight coming thru the window and the quiet of the moment.
There is something very peaceful about this painting.
While painting at the ranch,
I learned that the
ability to rest
is vital to the human spirit.
Knowing how to rest is definitely a talent.

One day while out on the lake in my red kayak, I saw my friend Jimmy rowing his boat with "Black Pearl" resting comfortably. Lucky for me I had a camera and painted this from a photo.

"The Red Bicycle" This is a painting of my son on his fifth birthday in Sausilito, California.
We were walking along the beach with my godmother and I took the photo,
loved the reflection in the water and just had to paint it.
This original oil that is about five feet tall is in the permanent
Woodruff Art Collection - Florida. No reproductions were made.
