ART EXHIBITION: Sofia, Bulgaria during 2011
Moved by the tsunami and earthquake in Japan, first, I wrote a story which I embossed on paper in Braille. Then I created three art prints that expressed what I was feeling:
1. is "Tsunami-Earthquake 2011" which represents the force of nature.
2. is "Echo the Cherry Blossom" or the washing away of Japan into the ocean with all of her glorious beauty.
3. is "PAX" which represents the outpouring of love and support for all people throughout the world as we received this reminder of how fragile the universe is at any given moment.
Then, I used printer's ink to add color on top of the Braille in various ways, stencil, ink rubbings, and block prints. Mixed media

8th LESSEDRA WORLD ART PRINT ANNUAL MINI PRINT 2009
June, July & August 2009
These are the three pieces exhibited in the LESSEDRA summer exhibition that Chloe created for the blind to touch
These are original prints created on the outdoor patio dining table at CLIFFS CLUB, a beautiful condo timeshare in Princeville, Kauai in Hawaii overlooking the ocean. During March 2009, Chloe was there for the Hanapepe Annual Orchid Festival Art Exhibition. The pieces she entered in the competition won prizes, cash and were sold.
While there she went to the market and bought produce, went home and created screens to make these prints using talcom powder, white glue and chalk. Some of the parts were inked and rubbed, the radish leaves for example, using different colors and layers to create texture.
When each piece was finished Chloe used tools for the blind to create raised edges along the lines of the vegetables and fruits so visually impaired people can feel them with their fingertips.
To honor Chloe's forever happy heart, she used the Chinese chop for "happiness" to create the stems on the persimmons with overlapping colors for contrast and texture. Chloe believes that one should always keep a song in their happy heart. Good attracts good. Happy attracts happy.
Braille is added to each print. Chloe who is a visually impaired artist often includes raised surfaces and adds Braille to her art so blind patrons can enjoy an art exhibit alongside sighted patrons.

Red Butterfly

Red Butterfly, created March 2007. Nature Print: The artist folded a white paper doily many times and glued ridges to create raised textures for the blind art patron to see with their fingertips.
When dry, she used a brayer to apply red and yellow printer's ink as a background.
This was mounted to ivory parchment paper.
When dry, the artist applied green, black and purple printer's ink to the back of Geranium leaves from her garden. Using a spoon, she rubbed the leaves onto the folded paper to create a leaf pattern. 23 x 28 cm.
Created especially for the LESSEDRA 2007 exhibition.
