The Monarch Butterfly
is an endangered species.
Chloe's working hard to help these glorious golden beauties to
survive and thrive
with the Monarch Habitat created in her special garden.
She encourages you to do the same.

You probably know already that the Koala Bear eats only
eucalyptus leaves and because people are cutting down eucalyptus trees
while clearing land for commercial development,
the Koala is running out of food and is unable to survive. Poor thing!
It's an endangered species.

But, did you know that the beautiful Monarch Butterfly
is also an endangered species?!
The Monarch is running out of milkweed plant -
the only plant the Monarch Caterpillar can eat
before it becomes a Pupa.
Thru progressive development of housing and industry,
the milkweed plant is being destroyed and dying off,
leaving nothing for the sweet little Monarch butterfly to eat.

Monarchs lay eggs on leaves of the milkweed plant
so their babies (the caterpillars) can hatch and munch there.
If you - as their friend - can offer the Monarch two or three milkweed plants,
the butterflies will stop by your place to visit and lay their eggs on
the leaves of your milkweed plants.
Then, as you keep careful watch over the caterpillars.
They will hatch from the eggs, stay and live on the milkweed plant
as they eat and grow.
In a few weeks, they will turn into a Pupa for their magical transformation into
a beautiful butterfly.
You will be able to watch as the butterfly
comes out of the Pupa and learns to fly.
This gorgeous golden creature will then fly into the wild blue yonder - -
into the great and beautiful blue sky of freedom - - and only
because you provided a safe and nurturing place for this to happen!
Lucky Butterfly - - having you as a friend!

The universe will be a better place for it . . .

For more information on the Monarch Butterfly, their lifecycle, migration, etc.
Please visit the MONARCH page of ISOPASA and participate in the
wonderful activities - for all ages - offered there.
Enclosed are three photos to help indentify these wonderful butterflies.
These photos are provided by Wikipedia.com.

Monarch Butterfly Caterpillar before it becomes a Pupa

This is a photo of the Monarch Caterpillar on a milkweed plant. Sometimes - during strong winds - they may blow into your yard. If you see one of these, please gently place it on the milkweed plant in your garden. Milkweed is the only plant it can eat. There it will form into a Pupa and become a gorgeous butterfly.

Chrysalis of the Monarch Butterfly, also known as a Pupa

This photo is of the Monarch Butterfly Chrysalis, also called the Pupa.

If you happen to see this little creature - please protect it.
